You need to bring your car with you to Denmark – what to do?
It is possible to bring your foreign registered motor vehicle to Denmark.
If you bring your vehicle with you from your home country, the vehicle must be re-registered and have Danish number plates assigned to it or you must obtain an exemption.
You can apply for an exemption of the registration tax, if you have come to Denmark to work temporarily, i.e. less than 185 days in a calendar year. You must provide documentation that your stay is temporary, for example in the form of a contract of employment, and that your car is insured, either in Denmark or abroad.

If you are a Danish resident, you must not use a vehicle which is registered in a foreign country. When taking up residence in Denmark, you therefore need to register your foreign registered motor vehicle within two weeks of arrival.
Contact the Danish tax authorities, SKAT, if you have any doubt as to whether you are resident in Denmark. You can do so by filling in a form that can also be used to apply for permission to travel in Denmark with foreign number plates.
