A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your PC, phone or tablet when you surf on the Internet.

Cookies have many applications, but they are basically used to store information about user behaviour on the Net or to ensure that a site or a solution functions technically as it should. Cookies are stored on the user’s computer. A cookie is not dangerous as it is a passive file that cannot spread computer virus or other harmful programmes. It helps to analyse, among other things, how the website is used in order to enable web editors to improve the user experience. In several cases, cookies can be necessary to supply a service.

Cookies are sent back and forth between your browser and a web server. They can tell for instance:

  • if you are logged in
  • which municipality you want to see information from
  • how you navigate on the website.

It is a common feature of the cookies that lifeindenmark.dk, Digital Post and a number of other self-service solutions use that they serve the purpose of giving you a better user experience. The cookies used by lifeindenmark.dk contain no personal information.

Lifeindenmark.dk uses cookies primarily for statistics and to see if you are logged in with your MitID. At the same time, cookies make it possible to see information and show self-service solutions that apply to your municipality on the website.

Your acceptance of cookies applies to all of lifeindenmark.dk with the exception of the parts of the site for which the Agency for Digital Government has no responsibility.

Session and login cookies

To make it possible for you to use lifeindenmark.dk, Digital Post and several other self-service solutions, a number of temporary session cookies will be stored on your PC, phone or tablet. Similarly, cookies will be used for security purposes. This type of cookies is designed to delete itself when you close your browser or your PC.

Web analytics cookies

In order to make your overall experience of lifeindenmark.dk better all the time, we collect anonymised statistics on an ongoing basis. With regard to lifeindenmark.dk, we use the programme Siteimprove, whereas we use SiteCatalyst for Digital Post.

SegmentID cookies

To make it possible for you to choose a municipality, to see self-service solutions from this municipality and to log off and on, lifeindenmark.dk stores temporary user-info cookies on your PC, phone or tablet. The various cookies are designed to delete themselves after a given period of time. However, you may delete the stored cookies at any time.

Cookies in connection with questionnaire surveys

in connection with online questionnaire surveys, a cookie will be stored to remember if you have replied “No” to participating in the survey, or if you have already completed the questionnaire.

Cookies to remember if you have accepted or declined cookies

To ensure that lifeindenmark.dk remembers if you have said 'Yes' or 'No' to cookies, your choice will be stored in a cookie. It may seem paradoxical that a 'No' to cookies is stored in a cookie, but it is the only method that exists to remember this.

If you have not accepted cookies yet when visiting lifeindenmark.dk, you will see a bar at the top of the page where you must decide whether to accept cookies or not.

If you are in doubt about whether to accept cookies or not, you can check the box 'Cookie consent' on this page. You will find a button here where you can accept cookies or a button where you cancel your cookie consent.

You can use lifeindenmark.dk without accepting cookies. However, there will always be a cookie registering your choice if you select a municipality and a number of cookies that are used to verify if you are logged in or not. Otherwise you cannot be shown information specifically from your municipality.

If you block the use of third-party cookies, there are certain self-service solutions and functions you will not be able to use.

If you want to delete individual cookies or all the cookies that your browser has stored, you must choose 'Advanced cookie settings' under 'Settings' in your browser and add lifeindenmark.dk to the list of websites from where you want to block cookies.

If you set your browser to refuse cookies, you must be aware that there may be functions on other websites that do not work.

Lifeindenmark.dk has concluded agreements with various private IT companies that help us operate and maintain the portal. All authorities depend on private IT companies to ensure the operation of the IT systems the authority uses. As part of the collaboration, a so-called data processing agreement has been concluded.

The agreement implies that external partners work according to the instructions given by the authority and are not allowed to use sensitive personal data for other purposes. The legislation is to ensure that the collaboration takes place on a safe and secure basis, and the Danish Data Protection Agency supervises that the authorities comply with the legislation.
