You must have received the benefit for April 2020

To receive the one-time payment of DKK 1,000 you must have received all or part of your benefit for the period of 1 April to 30 April 2020. It doesn't  matter on which date you received the benefit, as long as the benefit was paid out for the month of April. You can typically see the date on the payout message.

Please note wether your benefits are paid out to you at the beginning of the month or at the end of the month.

If your benefits are paid out at the end of the month, then the benefits for April will typically have been paid out to you on 30 April. If your benefits are paid out at the beginning of the month, then the benefits for April will typically have been paid out to you on 1 April.

However, you may also have received benefit for April at other times.

If you are entitled to receive the tax-free one-time payment of DKK 1,000 and you have a NemKonto account, the amount was automatically paid out to you in October 2020. You did not have to apply for it yourself.

You might not have a NemKonto account even though you receive public benefits from the Danish state. Instead you might have given your bank details to the public authority that pays out your benefit. This is not an option for the one-time payment. The one-time payment can only be paid out to a NemKonto account.

If you think you qualify according to the criteria and have not yet received the one-time payment, you need to make sure that you have an active NemKonto account. If you are in doubt, please contact your bank in Denmark. If you have an international bank account, you can check whether or not you have an active NemKonto account through Nemkonto’s self-service using your NemID or by contacting NemKonto’s customer support.

If you have an international bank account as your NemKonto account

If your NemKonto account is with a bank outside of Denmark, transferring the amount to this account will in some cases take a little longer. Your bank might also charge you a fee for the transfer.

Check your NemKonto

Look for a payment called 'Engangstilskud covid' when you check your online banking or your bank statement. Here you will also find a detailed text, where you can read more about the payment. The placement of the text depends on your bank.

You will not receive a letter about the payment.

If you haven't received the one-time payment

You have received a letter from ATP, Engangstilskud, if they have tried to pay out the payment to you, but you have not been able to receive it because you don’t have a NemKonto.

If you have a foreign bank

NemKonto is responsible for the actual creation of your NemKonto account when you have a foreign bank and do not have NemID.

If you have questions
If you have questions about the creation status of your NemKonto account, please contact NemKonto’s support team.

To receive the one-time payment, NemKonto must have received your form with the relevant documentation no later than 28 February 2021. Your NemKonto must operate no later than 20 June 2021, as the last payments will be paid out at the end of June 2021.

When you have applied

You can no longer apply for one-time payment. The deadline for applying was 28 February 2021.

In your application you must have documented that you have received one of the benefits covered for the month of April 2020.

The documentation that you have sendt to us must contain information about:

  • Your name
  • Your Danish CPR-number
  • The period for which the benefit is paid
  • The date of the payment
  • The authority that has paid out the benefit

Find more about the documentation for the application at borger.dk/engangstilskud (in Danish).

The deadline for applying was 28 February 2021. You can no longer apply for one-time-payment.

If you receive the one-time payment

If you receive the one-time payment it will be paid out to your NemKonto account. It may take a maximum of 8 weeks after we receive your application. However, if you have a Danish NemKonto account, it will usually be faster.

Look for a payment called 'Engangstilskud covid' when you check your online banking or your bank statement. You will not receive a letter about the payment.

If you do not receive the one-time payment

If you do not receive the one-time payment, ATP will send you a letter by mail within 4 weeks. If you live abroad it may take some time for the letter to reach you.

Once you have received the one-time payment

The payment will not affect the benefits, that you receive from the public sector, eg pension, old-age check, housing benefits, cash benefits (kontanthjælp), unemployment benefits, etc. This also applies in relation to your possible spouse, cohabitant and others you live with.

The one-time payment is tax-free and you do not have to change your peliminary income assessment because of it.  Also, you should not  state this as a change to your income, eg at Udbetaling Danmark.

Your assets in connection with your benefits

The payment of the DKK 1,000 will be taken into account when Udbetaling Danmark settles your assets in connection with a seniors' check or housing allowance up to and including 2022. Therefore, the one-time payment will not affect your assets either.

You may in some cases have to inform authorities and possibly document that you have received the payment, so that the authority that pays your benefit can ensure, that the payment does not affect your benefits. This may, for example, be in relation to your assets. In such case, the authority will contact you and ask for the documents needed.

Recovery of debt

The one-time payment cannot be used to recover public or private debt.

If you do not wish to receive the one-time payment you can choose to repay the money to the state.

You can repay the money by contacting Customer Service for the one-time payment for further guidance on repayment.

You cannot receive the one-time payment again

If you choose to repay the one-time payment the amount is returned to the state. You cannot receive the one-time payment again, once you have repaid it.

Please contact ATP regarding the one-time payment on (+45) 70 11 35 00.
