There are courses at all levels, from beginner to advanced. The courses include day courses, evening courses and residential courses, as well as an ever increasing number of distance learning courses.

Some courses are free, whereas others have a course participation fee. It is possible to apply for financial support for business-related adult/continuing education.

The Danish language courses for newly arrived adult foreign nationals are offered at language centres located nationwide. Here, instruction in Danish language and culture is provided to help recently arrived foreign nationals operate in Danish workplaces and society.

The Danish language courses are divided into 3 courses that are designed to match the participants' level of education.

  • Danish Course 1 for students who have no or a poor educational background
  • Danish Course 2 for students who have a short educational background
  • Danish Course 3 for students who have a lower or upper secondary or higher educational background.

The 3 Danish language courses are divided into 6 modules and can be completed with a Danish language exam.

Furthermore, newly arrived labour migrants can attend a language course specifically tailored labour migrants (Intro-Danish). Intro-Danish consists of 5 modules each comprising 50 hours of tuition.

For further information on Danish language tuition for newly arrived adult foreigners, please contact your local municipality.

Business-related Danish language courses designed for people with Danish as a foreign language are offered at AMU centres, technical schools, business schools, social and health care schools, etc. The courses are designed to help students improve the Danish language skills required for carrying out specific jobs and, if applicable, complete a professional job training qualification.
