If a vehicle registered in Denmark is subject to a mortgage or retention of title, this must be registered in the Motor Vehicle Securities Register (in Danish: Bilbogen) to be secured in relation to transfer, legal enforcement and additional creation of mortgages.

The Motor Vehicle Securities Register only shows debts secured by a mortgage on the vehicle and whether it is subject to retention of title.

The Motor Vehicle Securities Register is not a register of owners, meaning that you can only retrieve data on the car if it is or has been subject to security interests.

You access the Motor Vehicle Securities Register at the website www.tinglysning.dk. Use the vehicle identification number (VIN) or information about a debtor, if any, to search for cars registered in Denmark that are subject to a mortgage or a registered retention of title.
