If you have experienced undesirable effects from a cosmetic product you have the right to report this
A cosmetic product is defined as:
'any substance or mixture intended to be placed in contact with the external parts of the human body (epidermis, hair system, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and the mucous membranes of the oral cavity with a view exclusively or mainly to cleaning them, perfuming them, changing their appearance, protecting them, keeping them in good condition or correcting body odours.'
Any end user (consumer or professionals using the cosmetic product) in Denmark that have experienced undesirable effects related to the use of a cosmetic product can make a report.
However, as it is mandatory to sign in with MitID to finalize the report, you must be 15 or older to make a report. If you are younger than 15, you can make a report with the help of a parent or guardian.
Your report is used by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency to assess whether or not to further regulate certain cosmetic products or substances (cosmetovigilance).
If the Authority determines on the basis of the reporting that the cosmetic product has a serious undesirable effect, it has to share the information with the other competent authorities in European countries in order to determine whether the product or a substance contained in the product constitute a problem within the European Union.
Your report is not made publicly available.
The report is only made available to other competent authorities in the EU, if the Authority determines that the effect is seriously undesirable.
However, all information, which can be used to identify you, are made anonymous. Only your age and gender is made available.
