A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit a website.

Cookies have many applications, but they are basically used to store information about user behaviour on a website or to ensure that a site or a solution functions technically as it should. Cookies help analyse, among other things, how the website is used in order to enable web editors to improve the user experience. In several cases, cookies can be necessary to supply a service.

Cookies are sent back and forth between your browser and a web server. They can tell for instance:

  • if you are logged in
  • which municipality you want to see information from
  • how you navigate on the website.

Cookies cannot see who you are, what your name is, where you live, or whether your computer, phone or tablet is used by one or more people. A cookie cannot spread computer virus or other harmful programmes either.

It is a common feature of the cookies that lifeindenmark.dk, Digital Post and a number of other self-services use that they serve the purpose of giving you a better user experience. The cookies used by lifeindenmark.dk contain no personal information.

Lifeindenmark.dk uses cookies primarily for statistical purposes and to see if you are logged in with your MitID. At the same time, cookies make it possible to see information and show self-services that apply to your municipality on the website.

Your cookie consent applies to all of lifeindenmark.dk with the exception of the parts of the site for which the Agency for Digital Government has no responsibility, which includes the self-services on the portal. Here the responsibility lies with the authority that manages the self-service, such as a municipality.

In addition, if you leave lifeindenmark.dk and go to borger.dk to log in to Mit Overblik (roughly translated into My Overview), there are a number of cards, which are independent text boxes with information about you, on Mit Overblik, which other authorities are also responsible for. This includes information from the Danish Tax Agency and information about benefits and library borrower status that is only displayed on behalf of some municipalities.

You can always refuse cookies on lifeindenmark.dk, also after having consented to cookies in the first place. You do so by selecting the button 'Decline cookies' in the box 'Cancel cookie consent' at the top of this page. The cookies of lifeindenmark.dk will then be deleted from the computer you use.

Please notice that the function to cancel your cookie consent will not be visible as long as you have not accepted cookies.

If you want to know more about the use of cookies on lifeindenmark.dk, you can send an email with your question to admin@borger.dk

Lifeindenmark.dk is operated by the Agency for Digital Government, Landgreven 4, PO Box 2193, 1017 Copenhagen K. The Agency is also in charge of storing cookies on your computer, phone or tablet.
