Protection of your personal data in the new Digital Post as of 21 March 2022

The purpose of this page is to inform you about your rights in connection to the processing of your personal data that takes place when you use Digital Post. Agency for Digital Government is the data controller for the processing of your personal data in connection to Digital Post on borger.dk / lifeindenmark.dk and in the Digital Post app.

The Ministry of Finance has appointed a Data Protection Officer who advises on the data protection rules within the Ministry of Finance.

The purpose of the Data Protection Officer is to support the Ministry of Finance’s compliance with the rules on the processing of personal data.

The Data Protection Officer is able to guide you on your rights in connection with the processing of your personal data within the Ministry of Finance.

If you wish to contact the Data Protection Officer through email, you are kindly asked not to attach your national identification number or other sensitive data / confidential data. The Data Protection Officer is called Databeskyttelsesrådgiveren in Danish.

We process your personal data with the purpose of being able to display your digital messages in Digital Post. The purpose of Digital Post is to ensure that all citizens can access their Digital Post from public authorities on a public sector platform. 

The legal basis for our processing of your personal data follows from:

• Legislative decree no. 686 of April 15th 2021 on law about Digital Post from public authorities as senders.
• General Data Protection Regulation, article 6.1, letter e) public exercise of authority.      

We process the following categories of personal data:

• Personal data: Name, IP-address and UUID, which is your unique ID.  

We transmit your personal data to the following recipients:

• We transmit your personal data to the Agency for Digital Government’s data processors, Netcompany, and its sub-processor, Statens IT, which assist with the management, maintenance and running of Digital Post. 

Agency for Digital Government gets your name by an extract from the Danish CPR register. 

Agency for Digital Government stores your personal data as follows:

• If you log on to the Digital Post app your name gets stored encrypted on your own device. Agency for Digital Government will not store your name.
• Your IP address and UUID information will be stored in logs in the underlying IT system for 30 days. In relation to UUID webserver logs, the information will be stored in up to 90 days. 

According to the General Data Protection Regulation, you have rights in connection with our processing of your personal data.

You have the right to gain insight into the data we process about you, as well as some additional information.

You have the right to have incorrect information corrected.

In specific situations, you have the right to have your information erased before our general deadline for erasure comes into force.

In certain situations, you will have the right to have the processing of your personal data restricted. If you have the right to have the processing restricted, we will in the future only process your information – except for storage – with your consent or for the purposes of enforcing or defending legal claims, or for the protection of a person or important public interest.
