The Certificate of Personal Data is a certificate confirming any civil information at the time of issue (for instance birth, name and parents) registered on you as a citizen in the personal register and in the CPR (Det Centrale Personregister).

New layout for certificates from May 2024

All certificates issued by the Danish National Church or by the registrar in the Southern part of Jutland has changed appearance on May 27, 2024. The new certificates have a background pattern supplied by numerous other secure elements to avoid any counterfeit. Only the paper itself has changed. The information on the certificate will remain unchanged.

Please note: The certificates that are issued before May 27, 2024, are still valid. This means that you are not obliged to get a new certificate just because the certificate has changed its appearance.

You can apply for a Certificate of Personal Data on yourself and your child under the age of 18 years.

You are entitled to apply for a Certificate of Personal Data if you are:

  • Born in Denmark
  • Registered in Denmark by international foreign adoption

In addition, you can apply for a certificate if your personal data was registered in the Personal Register, for instance if you changed your name in Denmark after of 1 April 2006.

In order to apply for a certificate digitally you must have a Danish CPR number and MitID.
