An eID is an official electronic identity mean from an EU/EEA country.
An eID or electronic identity is a way to identify oneself digitally. It commonly enables access to a country’s public self-services, such as tax return, pension application, driving licence application, social security, and more.
Most EU/EEA countries have one or more official eIDs. The Danish eID is called MitID and is issued by the Danish government. Electronic identities are commonly issued by governments or by private organisations such as banks acting on behalf of a government.
