You should consult your family doctor (GP) to get a copy of your medical record from the given doctor. The same applies for specialists, in case you have been treated by for instance a dermatologist or a psychiatrist. Your records will be in Danish, subsequent translation will be your own responsibility.

Ask the individual practitioners whether transcripts of associated laboratory results or copies of earlier medicine prescriptions might be relevant in association to the record.

If you have children, and you want to collect their medical records, the same procedure applies for them.

You can access your records from public hospitals on sundhed.dk. The website and your records are in Danish. You need MitID to login to access the records.

Your family doctor (GP) will also be able to access your hospital records through sundhed.dk.

Records from private hospitals

If you have been treated at a private hospital, the records will not necessarily be available through sundhed.dk, and you will have to contact the individual hospital for a copy of your records.

You cannot automatically access your children's hospital records

If you have children and want to see their hospital records, you have to contact the individual hospital that treated your child, whether public and private. You do not have access to your child's records through sundhed.dk.

You need to contact your dentist and retrieve a copy of your record, associated scans and prescriptions.

If you have children, the same procedure applies for their records.

If you have been scanned at a public hospital, you can access the picture description yourself on sundhed.dk. However, you only have access to the description, not the actual image. The website and your records are in Danish. You need MitID to login to access the records.

It is not given that you can get a copy of the actual image from the scan. If possible, you can only get it directly from the hospital ward or the specialist who performed the scan or examination. In this case you must contact the ward or specialist directly.

X-rays and scans of children

If your child has been scanned at a public hospital, the picture descriptions from the scans can be retrieved from your child's family doctor (GP).
