You may use the services below if you are a resident in Favrskov, Hedensted, Herning, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Lemvig, Norddjurs, Odder, Randers, Ringkjøbing-Skjern, Samsø, Silkeborg, Skanderborg, Skive, Struer, Syddjurs, Viborg, Aarhus.

  • CPR number (civil registration number), allocation of family doctor (GP, general practitioner) and health insurance card 
  • MitID can be issued after the issuance of your CPR number
  • Guidance on how to apply for a tax card online. You do not need a CPR number to apply for a tax card
  • Registration of unemployment benefit from your home country
  • Job search guidance including free webinars on job search in Denmark
  • Guidance on your rights and obligations on the Danish labour market.

Nordic citizen

You can apply for a CPR number at ICS West if you belong to one of the following 2 groups:

  • Group A : Citizens in Aarhus, Aarhus, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Randers, Ringkøbing-Skjern, or Syddjurs, who have never had a CPR number before.
  • Group B: All citizens in Viborg, Silkeborg, Odder, Norddjurs, Favrskov, Herning, Skive or Skanderborg, and the citizens in Aarhus, Aarhus, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Randers, Ringkøbing-Skjern, or Syddjurs, who have previously possessed a CPR number. If your residing municipality is not listed above, please apply for a CPR number at the local Citizen Service of your residing municipality.

To obtain a CPR number your stay in Denmark must exceed 3 months and a permanent address in Denmark is mandatory. You must have taken up residence at your address and reside there for at least 1 month.

It is also possible to apply for a CPR number at the local Citizen Service of the municipality in which you are residing. Please check your municipality’s website for addresses and opening hours.

You belong to Group A, if you are a citizen in Aarhus, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Randers, Ringkøbing-Skjern, Samsø, Struer, or Syddjurs and have never had a CPR number before.

Please apply for your CPR number online before booking an appointment with Citizen Service at ICS West:

You need the following documents for your online application

  • Your original passport/national ID card
  • Proof of your social security number from your home country
  • Proof of your address in Denmark, for instance rental contract, housing confirmation from landlord or hotel/Airbnb booking confirmation and receipt for payment
  • Marriage certificate, if you are married, even if your partner is not accompanying you
  • Divorce certificate/death certificate if you are a widow or widower
  • Birth certificates for accompanying children under 18 years of age

Please note: Only marriage and divorce certificates and birth certificates regarding your children in English/German/Scandinavian languages are accepted. Translations of certificates must be done in a satisfactory manner. Marriage and birth certificates from some countries might need to be apostille certified or legalised.

When you completed the online entry registration form, you must book an appointment at ICS West.

Please bring the receipt from your online registration for your subsequent appointment at ICS West.

You belong to Group B, 

  • if you are a citizen in Favrskov, Hedensted, Herning, Lemvig, Norddjurs, Odder, Silkeborg, Skanderborg, Skive, Viborg, or
  • if you are a citizen in Aarhus, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Randers, Ringkøbing-Skjern, Samsø, Struer, or Syddjurs AND have possessed a CPR number previously.

Please bring the documents below for your appointment with Citizen Service at ICS West:

  • Your original passport/national ID card
  • Physical proof of your social security number from your home country (for instance ID card or printed document)
  • A completed arrival form (printed copy)
  • Proof of your address in Denmark with a minimum of 1 month, for instance rental contract, housing confirmation from landlord or hotel/Airbnb booking confirmation and receipt for payment (printed copy)
  • Your original marriage certificate, if you are married, even if your partner is not accompanying you (hard copy)
  • Original divorce certificate/death certificate, if you are a widow or widower (hard copy)
  • Original birth certificate(s) for accompanying children under 18 years (hard copy). 

When you have all the necessary documents, you must book an appointment at ICS West.

Please note: Only marriage certificates and birth certificates regarding your children in English/German/Scandinavian languages are accepted. Translations of certificates must be done in a satisfactory manner. Marriage and birth certificates from some countries might need to be apostille certified or legalised.

When you obtain a CPR number from ICS West, you will get a temporary health insurance card carrying your CPR number and the contact information of your family doctor (GP, general practitioner). The yellow health insurance card will be sent by post within approximately 14 days. Please make sure that your name is on your mailbox.

MitID

MitID is the common personal secure login to for instance self-services, netbanking, accessing your Digital Post etc. If you are obtaining a CPR number for the first time MitID is issued at ICS West in relation to the issuing of your CPR number.

Start Apply for a Danish tax card and a personal tax number

Your tax card must be ordered online – as a part of the process, you must upload a legible copy of the following

  • Your signed employment contract
  • Passport or national ID card – both copy of front and back of card. For individuals residing in Sweden: Please attach a copy of either your passport or your national ID card + civil registration certificate.
  • Your marriage certificate, if you are married.

You can submit your tax card application, when you have less than 60 days until you start working. The processing time varies, but it usually takes 3 to 6 weeks to process your application. If you have questions you can get in contact with the Danish Tax Agency by phone +45 72 22 27 80.

EU/EEA/Swiss citizen

Start Book an appointment to apply for EU residence document

If you work in Denmark for more than 3 months, you can apply for an EU residence document at the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration, located in the same office as ICS West in Aarhus.

You need to book an appointment for the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration – called SIRI – in advance and must appear in person to submit the application. You will get an email with a booking confirmation and a booking number. Please bring the booking number, when you visit ICS West.

At your appointment, you will get the EU registration document processed and the document handed over – provided you have brought all the necessary documents. Please bring the following documents:

  • Form OD1: Application for EU residence document. Each family member must fill in form OD1 including accompanying children.

  • Employment contract or declaration by the Employer – Appendix A in form OD1. Please note, that you must register within one month from the day your employer has signed the employment contract/the Declaration by the employer
  • Your original passport/ national ID card with photo
  • One passport size photo.

You can apply for a CPR number at ICS West if you belong to one of the following 2 groups:

  • Group A : Citizens in Aarhus, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Randers, Ringkøbing-Skjern, or Syddjurs, who have never had a CPR number before.

Job search

EU/EEA and Swiss citizens can export their unemployment benefit to other European countries, including Denmark, for 3 to 6 months.

You need to register as a jobseeker with International Citizen Service West within 7 days from the date stated on the front page of the PDU2 form you have received from either the employment services or the unemployment insurance fund in the country you left.

To comply with the Danish control measures you need to create your CV at Jobnet and continuously keep the CV active while unemployed. Please include your phone number in your CV.
