Please know that you must book an appointment before appearing in person at ICS West.

Please contact us by email or telephone if you have general inquiries about registration of entry, applying for a tax card and/or unemployment benefit from your home country.

  • EU residence document – only applicable for EU/EEA/Swiss-citizens. The service can be used regardless of the municipality you live in.

You may use the services below if you are a resident in Favrskov, Hedensted, Herning, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Lemvig, Norddjurs, Odder, Randers, Ringkjøbing-Skjern, Samsø, Silkeborg, Skanderborg, Skive, Struer, Syddjurs, Viborg, Aarhus.

  • CPR number (civil registration number), allocation of family doctor (GP, general practitioner) and health insurance card 
  • MitID can be issued after the issuance of your CPR number
  • Guidance on how to apply for a tax card online. You do not need a CPR number to apply for a tax card
  • Registration of unemployment benefit from your home country
  • Job search guidance including free webinars on job search in Denmark
  • Guidance on your rights and obligations on the Danish labour market.

Nordic citizen

You can apply for a CPR number at ICS West if you live in Favrskov, Hedensted, Herning, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Lemvig, Norddjurs, Odder, Randers, Ringkjøbing-Skjern, Samsø, Silkeborg, Skanderborg, Skive, Struer, Syddjurs, Viborg or Aarhus municipality.

If your residing municipality is not listed above, please apply for a CPR number at the local Citizen Service of your residing municipality.  

To obtain a CPR number your stay in Denmark must exceed 3 months and a permanent address in Denmark is mandatory. You must have taken up residence at your address and reside there for at least 1 month.

It is also possible to apply for a CPR number at the local Citizen Service of the municipality in which you are residing. Please check your municipality’s website for addresses and opening hours.

Apply for a CPR number online and book an appointment:

Please have the following documents ready for upload and bring them either digitally or printed for your appointment:

  • Passport
  • Proof of your social security number from your home country (Citizens from the Faroe Islands must bring their P number)
  • Proof of your address in Denmark (as a general guideline you must upload or bring proof that you have been/will be living at the address for at least 1 month)
  • If you are renting: your rental contract
  • If you are living at someone else's address: consent from the person residing at the address
  • If you own the property you are moving into: proof of your ownership
  • If you are married: marriage certificate - even if your partner is not accompanying you
  • If you are divorced: marriage certificate from your previous marriage and divorce certificate
  • If you are a widow(er): marriage certificate and death certificate. 

If you're bringing children:

  • Children's birth certificates, for any accompanying children under 18
  • Documents on legal custody, if you have full custody of your child
  • Consent form from the child’s other parent if this parent is not accompanying the child to Denmark (find the document in the online CPR application. It must be printed and signed by the child’s other parent. You must upload this document or bring it for your appointment with Citizen Service) Please also bring a copy of the passport/ID of your child's other parent. Additional documentation may be asked for.

Your documents must be in Danish, English or German.

Please note, marriage and birth certificates from some countries might need to be apostille certified or legalised: 

When you obtain a CPR number from ICS West, you will get a temporary health insurance card carrying your CPR number and the contact information of your family doctor (GP, general practitioner). The yellow health insurance card will be sent by post within approximately 14 days. Please make sure that your name is on your mailbox.

MitID

MitID is the common personal secure login to for instance self-services, netbanking, accessing your Digital Post etc. If you are obtaining a CPR number for the first time MitID is issued at ICS West in relation to the issuing of your CPR number.

Start Apply for a Danish tax card and a personal tax number

Your tax card must be ordered online – as a part of the process, you must upload a legible copy of the following

  • Your signed employment contract
  • Passport or national ID card – both copy of front and back of card. For individuals residing in Sweden: Please attach a copy of either your passport or your national ID card + civil registration certificate.
  • Your marriage certificate, if you are married.

You can submit your tax card application, when you have less than 60 days until you start working. The processing time varies, but it usually takes 3 to 6 weeks to process your application. If you have questions you can get in contact with the Danish Tax Agency by phone +45 72 22 27 80.

EU/EEA/Swiss citizen

Start Book an appointment to apply for EU residence document

If you work in Denmark for more than 3 months, you can apply for an EU residence document at the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration, located in the same office as ICS West in Aarhus.

You need to send an application and book an appointment for the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration – called SIRI – in advance and must appear in person. You will get an email with a booking confirmation and a booking number. Please bring the booking number when you visit ICS West.

To apply based on working please have to following documents ready when you send in your application:

  • Employment contract or declaration by the Employer – Appendix A in form OD1. Please note, that you must register within one month from the day your employer has signed the employment contract/the Declaration by the employer
  • Your original passport/ national ID card with photo.

 You can apply for a CPR number at ICS West if you live in Favrskov, Hedensted, Herning, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Lemvig, Norddjurs, Odder, Randers, Ringkjøbing-Skjern, Samsø, Silkeborg, Skanderborg, Skive, Struer, Syddjurs, Vejle, Viborg or Aarhus municipality.

Job search

EU/EEA and Swiss citizens can export their unemployment benefit to other European countries, including Denmark, for 3 to 6 months.

You need to register as a jobseeker with International Citizen Service West within 7 days from the date stated on the front page of the PDU2 form you have received from either the employment services or the unemployment insurance fund in the country you left.

To comply with the Danish control measures you need to create your CV at Jobnet and continuously keep the CV active while unemployed. Please include your phone number in your CV.
