You can carry out the following registrations at ICS Sønderborg

  • EU residence document – only applicable for EU/EEA/Swiss-citizens
  • CPR number (civil registration number) and health insurance card, if you live in Sønderborg or Haderslev Kommune.

Nordic citizen

To apply for a CPR number, you must apply for entry to Denmark online.

You will normally get a document with your CPR number and the contact points to your family doctor (GP) the same day you apply in ICS Sønderborg. The yellow health insurance card will be sent by post within 14 days. 

Things to remember when you apply for a CPR number

A permanent address in Denmark is mandatory in order to be able to apply for a CPR number. The minimum residing period needed for a permanent address is 1 month. 

Health insurance card

Your health insurance card, also called yellow card, is ordered as a part of the CPR number process. Within 30 days you can expect to receive the card. Please make sure to have the correct name on your mailbox otherwise the card will not be delivered to your postal address.

  • Your original passport/nation ID card
  • Proof of your address in Denmark, for instance rental contract, housing confirmation from landlord or hotel/Airbnb booking confirmation and receipt for payment
  • Your original marriage certificate, if you are married. Please remember to bring your marriage certificate, even if your partner is not accompanying you. Divorce certificate/death certificate, if you are a widow or widower

Please note: Only marriage certificates in English/German/Scandinavian languages are accepted. Translations of certificates must be done in a satisfactory manner. Marriage and birth certificates from some countries might need to be apostille certified or legalized.

Your tax card must be ordered online – as a part of the process, you must upload a legible copy of the following:

  • Your signed employment contract
  • Passport or national ID card – both copy of front and back of card. For individuals residing in Sweden: Please attach a copy of either your passport or your national ID card + civil registration certificate
  • Your marriage certificate, if you are married. 

You can submit your tax card application, when you have less than 60 days until you start working.  

The processing time varies, but it usually takes 3 to 6 weeks to process your application.

EU/EEA/Swiss citizen

Start Book an appointment to apply for EU residence document

If you work in Denmark for more than 3 months, you can apply for an EU residence document at the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration, located in the same office as ICS North in Aalborg. 

You need to book an appointment in advance and must appear in person to submit the application. You will get a booking confirmation with your booking number in your mailbox. Please bring the booking number, when you visit ICS.

At your appointment, you will get the EU registration document processed and the document handed over – provided you have brought all the necessary documents. Please bring following documents:

  • Form OD1: Application for EU-residence document. Each family member must fill in form OD1 incl. accompanying children

Form OD1 is located in the following path: Frontpage > you want to apply > residence as an EU/EEA citizen > EU residence as a worker > How to apply Employment contract or declaration by the Employer: Appendix A in form OD1. Please note, that you must register within one month from the day your employer has signed the employment contract/the Declaration by the employer.

  • Your original passport/national ID card with photo
  • One passport size photo
